Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Rekodi Pesa, a WhatsApp-based conversational finance bookkeeping service for Tanzania. Please read them carefully before using the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
- By accessing or using the Rekodi Pesa service ("Service"), including by sending a message to our WhatsApp number, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
- We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
- Rekodi Pesa is a conversational finance bookkeeping tool that operates through WhatsApp. The Service allows you to:
- Record income and expense transactions in TZS via WhatsApp messages.
- Retrieve financial summaries and reports in Tanzanian Shillings through conversation.
- Organise and categorise personal or business transactions.
- Rekodi Pesa is a record-keeping tool only. It is not a bank, financial institution, payment processor, or investment adviser.
3. Eligibility
- To use the Service you must:
- Be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required by Tanzanian law).
- Have a valid WhatsApp account in good standing.
- Provide accurate information when using the Service.
4. Your Account and Data
- Your account is identified by your WhatsApp phone number. You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your number in connection with the Service.
- You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the transaction data you submit. Rekodi Pesa stores the records you provide — we do not independently verify any financial information.
- You may request deletion of your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
5. Acceptable Use
- You agree not to use the Service to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent financial records.
- Violate any applicable Tanzanian, regional, or international law or regulation.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Service.
- Use the Service for commercial resale without our prior written consent.
- Impersonate any person or entity.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Intellectual Property
- All content, branding, software, and intellectual property related to Rekodi Pesa are owned by or licensed to us, protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
- You retain ownership of the transaction data you submit. By submitting data, you grant us a licence to process and store it solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
7. Third-Party Platforms
- The Service operates through the WhatsApp Business API provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. Your use of WhatsApp is governed by WhatsApp's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- We are not responsible for the availability, functionality, or policies of WhatsApp or Meta, and are not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
8. Disclaimers
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
- Rekodi Pesa is a personal bookkeeping aid and does not constitute financial, legal, or tax advice under Tanzanian law. Consult a qualified professional for such matters.
9. Limitation of Liability
- To the fullest extent permitted by Tanzanian law, Rekodi Pesa and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Service.
- Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or TZS 25,000, whichever is greater.
10. Indemnification
- You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rekodi Pesa and its operators from any claims, liabilities, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
11. Service Modifications
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of significant changes.
12. Governing Law
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania.
